Monday nights meeting is likely to be quite a long affair. You should have received the email from head office about the disbanding of the NEC. There are a lot of implications to discuss. In addition to this we have the elections for the area officials as well normal AGM stuff. Could I please ask that we are all there in plenty of time to start at 8pm?
Just in case some of you have been missed off the communication and don’t know what I am talking about re NEC, here is the text from the email from Laura Sanger.
Dear BRC Member
Today is the start of the future development of BRC as we launch the new BRC Advisory Committee, which will be comprised of six members of the former NEC. All 23 Area Representatives will continue to meet twice a year.
All organisations evolve and develop over a period of time and The British Horse Society and British Riding Clubs are no different. Everyone will have a recollection of a charity changing its name to fit the modern world or of an organisation restructuring its board and terms of reference to meet the demands of delivering quality services to its members. The BHS Board of Trustees have been working hard over the past two years to ensure that every aspect of the Society’s work is supported by a robust committee structure and we are announcing today the new BRC Advisory Committee. This FAQ document will explain the new structure and answer some of the questions which you may have.
BRC members may be asking how this will affect them and their club. The short answer is that nothing will change. Clubs will still be affiliated to The British Horse Society and will remain autonomous. Every club will have its own constitution and club rules and they will continue to elect their own committee to run their club for them. There will be no change to the payment structure and members will continue to join their club, paying the membership fee direct to the club. The BRC Area structure will also remain unchanged. BRC will organise the six Championships which take place each year and these will continue to develop and grow. Training will always be a hugely important part of BRC and we hope to introduce many more training opportunities for all members in the future.
It is important to note that while the BRC NEC was not involved in the introduction of the Advisory Committee, this email has been sent out with their knowledge and understanding.
Please do not hesitate to contact either myself or any of the BRC team at HQ, who will be happy to answer any of the queries which you may have.

Summer Show Results 2015
I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who gave their time over the weekend to help make the summer show a great success.
All our club volunteers had two very long days, and thankfully the weather was very kind to us.
Without you, these area competitions would not be able to run.
Well done to all members who competed and congratulations to the lucky ones going to the championships! Good luck to all of you and let’s hope you come back with some national titles for Area 4!
Finally a personal and on behalf of area 4 members, ‘thank you’ to Nicky and the committee for all of their time and work leading up to and over the weekend.
It doesn’t finish there…… all the results have to go into the office, sorting and sifting through hundreds of sheets is not a two minute job!
So finally i have done the ROR Riding Club Area 4 Challenge results of the Summer Show. The winners of these rosettes are awarded to the highest placed ROR in the competition. The winner of the Showjumping is Pete Wicks riding Lord of Dreams for Selby Riding Club who did a fantastic double clear in the Senior Novice to finish 2nd individually and team came 4th. The Style Jumping ROR Rosette was won by Rachel Newton riding for Scarborough Riding Club on Premier Ambitions and she also won the Riding Test ROR Rosette as well!! The Dressage ROR rosette was won by Samantha Dexter on Jimmyling who came 4th Individually in the Novice Competition for Ebor Vale Riding Club and the team came 3rd. Unfortunately i have an unclaimed ROR rosette for the DTM and Meduim Competition as i could find no ROR competitors for that day (perhaps Ex Racehorses just cant dance? ) Well done to everyone taking part and those that didnt win a rosette are still in with a chance in the ROR points league table which i will announce at the Area 4 AGM xxx
Please remember that no one has “qualified” until they get that all important letter from head office.
Big thank you to all who helped out, the day ran exceptionally well and its all down to you.
Hope to see some of you at the area 4 DTM and summer show.
Area 4 Showcross Results 18/04/2015
Message from the chair …
To all club Chef d’Equipes
Please pass on our heartfelt thanks to all your helpers and riders at the Show cross yesterday. Without their steely determination, goodwill and patience the show could not have gone ahead.
Special thanks to Jane Schindler and Eleanor Brambles of West Yorkshire Horseplay and non RC member Simon Harrison for providing the medical cover until the Paramedics arrived.
We can say that the morning was stressful for all concerned but in true determination and Riding Club spirit the event proved to be a good competition, and certainly entertained the Fence Judges and made the Vet and Paramedics earn their fees.
From starting an hour late, and everyone giving up their breaks we caught up and were only 10 minutes late starting the afternoon classes, and managed to finish the final class earlier than the scheduled time!
We wish everyone who qualified (wait for your invites!) the very best of luck at the Championships.
